So after becoming quite the slacker over the past few months, I have decided to migrate Audio Pizza over to Tumblr. Why? My longtime dream of writing music reviews and sharing my favorite tunes has failed to pan out as a career because not enough of you have clicked on my ads. But in all seriousness, the realities of life have kept me from writing and posting as often as I like and I think it's time for me to take a different approach. For all of you who hung in there with me on here on Blogger, I sincerely hope that you will continue to swallow slices of Audio Pizza over at her new location on Tumblr. See you there!

As in love with you as I am
A couple days ago, my friend Chas posted the new song Angels by The xx on Facebook and said "The best album of the year soon to be released."Although the full album doesn't come out until September, if this first single is any indicator, he might be right.

The Magnetic Zeros are Here
In 2009, Alex Ebert, Jade Castrinos, and the rest of those crazy Magnetic Zeros hit it big with the songs "Home" and "Janglin'" on their debut album. We all loved the album and I personally wish I could take the song Home back to my 2008 wedding and use it as our first dance. But alas, these songs had a bit of a shelf life and if you were anything like me, their new album Here was long overdue.
To me, Here sounds a bit like a combination of a rowdy church sermon, a backyard hootenanny, and a bunch of tipsy gypsies, which is exactly how Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros should sound.
The other element of this album that greatly stands out to me is the fact that the voice of Jade Castrinos that we all met in Home is loud and prevalent throughout the disc. I may or or may not have a pretty serious (wife allowed) fan crush on Jade and her abilities. So I was psyched to hear so much more of her in the band's sophomore album. Thanks Alex for sharing the stage a bit better this time around. Tell me I'm wrong by the way...
Here's a few songs from Here. Enjoy!

These guys really make it through the late night circuit apparently. Here's That's What's Up on Jimmy Kimmel.
And finally, I Don't Wanna Pray
And on one final note, Jade is hot. That is all.

Nick Waterhouse, born six late decades too late
When I first saw a picture of Nick Waterhouse, not only did I think it was a photo from the middle part of the 20th century, but I also thought I was looking at the love child of Buddy Holly and Rivers Cuomo. When I started listening to Nick, I still wasn't convinced that he was a modern musician. Then when I saw his first video, I thought I was watching the new intro of Mad Men. Either way, I'm really liking the retro, garage sounds coming from this 25 year old from California. I think you will too.
His first full album, Time's All Gone, was recently released and it's definitely worth a glimpse if you've ever tapped your foot to a mix of R&B and rock and roll (great guitar licks). Think a mix of Raphael Saadique, Aloe Blacc, Amy Winehouse, and The Black Keys.

AV Undercover - Great bands covering questionable songs
Recently, my cousin (Yogi, CalDavis Aggie, future brewmaster) put me on to some really cool stuff The AV Club is doing. Basically, they start with 25 songs they think would make great covers, then they invite bands in to pla y them in a small circular room. Once the song has been played, it's crossed off the list.
Here's an overview of how it works....
Introduction to A.V. Undercover
So...here's some of my favorite from the past three years, although this current year is in progress. Enjoy!
Trampled By Turtles covers Arcade Fire
Punch Brothers cover The Cars
Probably my favorite...
They Might Be Giants covers Chumbawamba
The Clientele covers M.I.A.
Oh man, Sam Beam (Iron & Wine) almost made me cry during a George Michel song. I just wish he would have learned the lyrics.
Iron And Wine covers George Michael

Dancing On My Own
The newest television obsession for my wife and I is HBO's new show Girls. Definitely worth checking out if you have the chance (I think you can watch the pilot on it's website). The final scene of the latest episode featured "Dancing On My Own" by Swedish pop star Robyn.
I thought it would be a great song for those looking for a new song to blast and dance to in your underwear in the living room (which is what the final scene in Girls looked like). Enjoy!
